For over 50 years the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NAASC) Cleveland Chapter has been dedicated to sustaining interest in the welfare of Spelman College and its alumnae, current and prospective students in the Greater Cleveland community. The goals of the Cleveland Chapter include providing scholarships and additional support of students currently enrolled at Spelman College; raising awareness of Spelman College and its programming; promoting sisterhood among Spelman College alumnae; and educating and recruiting prospective students about Spelman College
The National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NAASC) is the official organization that supports Spelman College, a historically black college for women, through financial gifts, student recruitment, sisterhood, community service, and recognition of Spelman women. The Association provides, encourages and promotes growth and development of alumnae through leadership opportunities and partnership alliances. NAASC actively seeks to involve all former students and graduates in the fulfillment of its purpose.
Founded in 1881 as the Atlanta Baptist Female Seminary, we became Spelman College in 1924. Now a global leader in the education of women of African descent, Spelman College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and we are proud members of the Atlanta University Center Consortium.
Today our student body comprises more than 2,100 students from 41 states and 15 foreign countries. Spelman empowers women to engage the many cultures of the world and inspires a commitment to positive social change through service.
